The CopySouth Research Group (CSRG) invites you to attend and join in the debates at its international conference on copyright to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at the end of June.
The issues to be discussed include: 1) file sharing, copyright ‘piracy’ and the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA); 2) musicians and the copyright system; 3) cultural diversity and North-South knowledge flows; 4) Electronic books, Google books, and Sciello books; 5) access to knowledge in the global South; 6) the political economy of copyright; 7) alternatives and resistance to copyright.
Leading critical researchers, information activists, and musicians from Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, Cuba, the United States, South Africa, Ghana, the Philippines, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom will be speaking.
There will be simultaneous interpretation in Portuguese, Spanish and English.
DATES: 28-30 June 2010.
