The two go together... we're talking speech and association adapted for changes in social structure and scale!(political contribution is speech!)

What I like about the Chagora model is that it's self-generating... it doesn't need to be imposed but will grow because of it's own intentionally self-reinforcing design.

A dedicated account for commons activities has many possible future evolutionary paths as well.
In anything from public finance of elections, to new economic forms for neighborhood barter, and others for farther down the road not here discussed...
These are for the future... first things first! As an aside, this research

And as for Open Source... I'll look when I have a chance... I'm familiar with the concept in basic form... I just meant I'm not famiar with the arguments for going one way or another in a particualar situation.

Frankly, I'm needing to move fast and I hope we get the chance to talk! I believe I know how to put together a comprehensive system that will work, attract users AND change the political playing field for the better.

I hope I don't need to stop and finish a bunch of flow charts before I find those ready to move forward since I believe I have enough ready NOW (even just the microdonation with instant feedback) and can clearly lay out how it fits together with the rest and specifics on what needs to be built... to begin an organic process of voluntary growth.

You guys have a great vision... and I would welcome exploring possibilities.
But you must also know that there's a lot of places out there trying to be a successful non-partisan site.

And, at this stage of things, for personal reasons, I can't pause and must keep searching for the assistance I need.

I've never wanted to be king... this isn't an idle statement... I have issues with "hierarchical" structures which I'm sure are slightly pathological.

To the point that back at SJSU in the late '60's (Joe Trippi's alma mater) I refused my student deferment because I thought the system was elitest and then refused induction... that and other things caused me to somewhat "disengage" from the mainstream... which has meant few credentials and no money. But I've always been one to follow my own drummer.

So I have no desire to be king... and you never would have heard of me...

But while disengaged, I have not been non-observant. In fact I may have perspectives that are unique. Nevertheless, when it became apparent to me that I had practical solutions I could not be silent.

I believe I know how to get built what needs to be built. And while it seems to be costing me everything including the roof over my head, I will eventually get this built. So, while wishing to be as slight a king as possible... I hope you will forgive my assertion that I believe one or the other of these sites is going to figure that out.

And further, the perspective I bring leads to other "solutions" besides Chagora... much following ideas you present as well... finding ways to "readjust" motivational systems, especially in large organizations for better social results. So in many ways, I want to get Chagora going, hand it off and be working on other solutions. That's what my company, Civilization Systems is about... I work for its viability... and my own. Hi Tom,

I can see that you have very fully thought out vision. I'm not a coder, either, but I have some idea of how development goes, and the "if you flowchart it, we can build it" thing really is true.
Flow charts can also be valuable for creating belief among the people you are soliciting attention and help from. Anything that makes the product more fleshed out and real, especially images, will draw people in.

Going open source means making your code freely available on the web so that others can help you improve it. Others on this list can say more, but I have found this resource very useful: http://producingoss.org It just occured to me that si…tag:p2pfoundation.ning.com,2009-02-05:2003008:Comment:92792009-02-05T05:09:37.000ZTom Crowlhttps://p2pfoundation.ning.com/profile/TomCrowl

I don't want to discourage you from checking out the donation, accounting and record keeping function if you feel the urge!
It should be fully operational if you or others want to go ahead and put in $20 and play around with some practice contributions in ANY amount... but use small ones so you can play longer... to the various candidates and/or charities to see how it all works... How you'll get email acknowledgements, how you'll see your contribution add to the totals on the crawl at the top of home page, see your balance change on your account page, and the record of your donations, etc. etc...

Just know that money is not going to be sent to the candidates or charities and I can just send you a check to pay you back for the $20 you use in your test which will be sitting in the trust account at B of A... till I can move it cause I'm no B of A fan these days.

AND
... the little Magnifying glass next to the search box for "find your neighborhood takes you to what is now essentially just a drawn page... but the search box is ready based on zip code...

as is a reasonably functional bare-bones neighborhood page with functional "soap box" . It's basicaly just a simple blog in demo but key is WHO can post and the decision process for BEST POST selection to move to a more broadly targetted opinion page. I have definite workable selection process ideas laid out but that's a rich area for exploration and unlikely EVER finished... but a User-centered process but with essential checks and balances which will be necessary as well as random elements. Nuff on that now.

I'm sure developers could put it back up quickly to show but still buggy and I'm wanting other things also... not their fault... no money!

Speaking of which, a user can have an account with no funds and still have FULL capabilites here and the rest of the site)

Use of zipcode is simple for demo but not adequate as I'm sure you know... again... funding issue... definitely steps beyond just zip code ultimately...

If you go for trying $10 or $20 let me know if any bugs... which is certainly possible... but not I think in the essential accounting/money portion which is very clean running so far.
