Via Istvan Rado:
There will be a conference on sufficiency economy to be held on 18-19 October in Bangkok -
Website www.sufficiency-conference.org
. Here is some information about what to expect:
The conference is jointly organized by King Prajadhipok Institute of Thailand and Thammasat University. It offers two additional aspects compared to earlier events on the subject. One of these is the exploration of Sufficiency Economy as a national development strategy, involving the public and business sectors, and civil society. In contrast to community strategies, this topic is still relatively underexplored. Theorists on balanced development models, autocentric development, and deglobalization have contributed important socio-economic insights to invigorate discussion on Sufficiency Economy as a national strategy.
Another aspect is bringing in the experiences of the Catholic Focolare Movement, which has members all over the world. They have introduced a "culture of sharing" into their business practices, based on which the Italian economist Luigino Bruni has drawn implications for economic theory. So we are bringing together Buddhist economics theorists and practitioners with Christian-inspired counterparts.
The registration is free of charge. The registration deadline is 30 September.
