i suggest that earth is at its very limit of capability to preserve life itself, so i think imediate action is recuired.

2 simple steps i suggest to be most important.

activate a global surveilance system that gives live video feeds of all movement outside of private houses can create a turning point in awareness, equal to an upgraded skill of viewing.Universal acess and acess to the stored data, for all participants can create a new form of savety, as well as create a system that allows self surveilance of the hole human species itself.

Next would be redistibution of value....long enough people did work for the sake of work itself. To make sure that housing, food and acess is available in acceptable manner a global income can be established, this create a turningpoint in focus of humans, so that they can start to work for their passion, and destroy the value of status, as it exsists today.

Both together can then finally create the critical mass needed to redsign the actions of humans as a species itself.

Most promising would this wave of healing be for science, medicine, and the exsistance of the last remaining species that nature has to offer.

Its just a shame that there is no discussion to redesign the system we life ib, even though the planet is going down...especially when we have a small elite of global descison makers, what can force them to come together and stop humans from what they are doing...and free us all from competition against each other for the sake of power over others or money.

technology is far ahead of what is available for the masses....a subject to change..patents and secrecy and lies can be eliminated if there is no other goals for humans left then wellbeing.

What is it good for to tell again and again that we can have sustainability and enviromental friendly living if that facts that earth doesnt technically need to suffer if humans combine their effords for their basic needs and go from that point are never subject of discussion on a larger plattform like tv and global politics.

what would be the best acess point to once and for all prove that we could establish a mostly conflict free living together with not much dutys?

I really wonder ...the technology to mass communicate are exsisting, environmental friendly technology that is exsisting too, we could have transport systems way ahead of cars and busses..things like solar upwind and sun, water and windenergy suficient for all needs, universal acess to the descisions that effect us directly and way more...but there is nothing changing.

Democracy itself is a joke when its about to find the best working solution and not something temporarily popular, and the answers .... the p2p foundation is already full of good answers ..the net is full of good thoughts..why is there no links upwards to challenge the leaders to make a united world and fix the root problems not do politics inside the system that prvents so much.

There is way enough work force and ressource if its not wasted in competing against each other.

This world is a shame and it makes me sick and that even for real when my mind flips over from time to time to see time go by nature go down and people suffer on all levels.

Peer-to-Peer & Non-Possessory Control is the Real Value Proposition

Sit back and think how many times characters in movies and books have bartered with gold coins, dreamt of gold bars or spoken of golden objects with a twinkle of lust in their eyes.

There are practical reasons that gold finds itself as the default placeholder for a thing of value regardless of the time period, character-plight or geographical location. Gold transcends nearly all hypothetical barriers, not simply because of scarcity, but because it is an apolitical, non-centrally-controlled, trustless commodity that is traded almost entirely peer-to-peer.

You can be transported in a time machine or spend years traversing Mordor, but when you find civilization, someone will accept your gold in exchange for much needed sustenance (or an army with ships). While its market value will likely have changed in your absence, regimes toppled and entire people (or elves) displaced, gold’s utility will remain impervious to systemic externalities.

But how can this be? Its most fundamental value proposition is as a bearer commodity that requires no third party involvement to exist or be stored. Like bearer bonds, a person needs only to have control over its location and it needs only to be in a person’s control to be bartered. (This is why everyone loves treasure maps!)

Cryptocurrencies Are Future Gold and Act As Bearer Instruments

The easiest way to explain Bitcoin and similar cryptocurrencies is to refer to them as digital bearer instruments (like bearer bonds, except they don’t represent an entity’s debt repayment promise). You can send them directly to another person. All you need is control over them, via a private key. Think of a private key as a secret password that you can safely traverse the world, galaxy or 007-esque plot line with. In fact, you don’t even need to find somewhere safe to keep them, like a vault or freezer. Bitcoins are stored in the open source, public blockchain as a protocol waiting to be instructed (redeemed) and are only transferable via a private key (a long number mathematically related to a public key).

While Bitcoin wallets are popular, they aren’t necessary to control Bitcoin. Online wallets, or hot-wallets, make it more practical to send and receive Bitcoin, but wallets are only as secure as your password and Bitcoin client software.

In its purest state, all a person needs is a private key to access a fortune. Private keys are unique and correspond to public keys, which like an email address is where mail/Bitcoin is sent and is deposited. These keys can be sent physically or electronically. They can be encrypted, portioned orhidden in plain sight. Non-possessory control over a publicly visible, yet unredeemable (without the private key) stash of treasure is something surely every writer wished was at their disposable and wasn’t until now — without magic of course.

We are delighted to announce the kickoff of the P2PValue Project in which the P2P Foundation will be collaborating for the next three years.

Here is the project outline:

Commons-based peer production (CBPP) is a new and increasingly significant model of social innovation based on collaborative production by citizens through the Internet. This project will foster the CBPP phenomenon by providing a techno-social software platform specifically designed to facilitate the creation of resilient and sustainable CBPP communities. The design of the P2Pvalue platform will be empirically and experimentally grounded. Through a triangulation of qualitative and quantitative methods, we will elaborate guidelines for the institutional and technical features that favour value creation in CBPP.

The project focuses on three key areas of improvement over current platforms:

Enhancing community sustainability by adopting the governance, legal, economic, and technical infrastructures that favour value creation and resilience;

Supporting the contributors with systems of reward that allow value to flow back to the creators;

Integrating the functionalities of online social networking services and collaborative software in a privacy-aware platform based on a decentralised architecture.

The platform will be tested using the FP7 FIRE CONFINE facilities, which follow a federated approach in alignment with P2Pvalue’s. This will allow us to deploy, run, monitor and experiment with an open ecosystem of distributed P2Pvalue nodes within the CONFINE community networks. Evaluation of the P2Pvalue platform will be supported by experimentation on 3-4 communities that will adopt the platform. Additionally a "Stakeholder Board", composed of external experts and user representatives, will provide periodical evaluation reports to the project.

The project takes multi-disciplinary approach: open source software development (Universidad Complutense de Madrid), social network analysis & simulation (University of Surrey, Universidad Complutense de Madrid), sociology (University of Surrey, Università degli Studi di Milano), political science & online governance (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), law & interface design (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique), economic innovation (Università degli Studi di Milano, P2PF, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), CBPP practices (P2PF, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona).

We will be working alongside many familiar faces among the project participants and stakeholder board and will be updating here, on the project site and through social networks using the hashtag #P2PValue.
Mailpile Crowdfunding Successtag:p2pfoundation.ning.com,2013-08-29:2003008:BlogPost:513072013-08-29T16:04:36.000ZMichel Bauwenshttp://p2pfoundation.ning.com/profile/MichelBauwens

"Good news all around: with more than two weeks to go on their funding campaign, Mailpile has exceeded its funding goal for the development of an alternative web-mail application with enhanced encryption and safety features.

Led by an Icelandic team of open source veterans and privacy advocates, Mailpile aims to provide a secure, open source, encrypted email service. The team has set a January 2014 date for an “Alpha” release.

The funding and ongoing development is community based. “When we aren't sure what features to work on next or need to make some other major decision, we will seek input from the Mailpile Community. To this end, we will set up a forum dedicated to this conversation. After all, you are the ones funding the work and your voices should be heard. [...]

No ads, no spying. Just powerful software backed by a community of people who care.”

In light of the Snowden leaks and the subsequent shutting down of US based encrypted email services such as Lavabit and Silent Circle, we think that the Icelandic based Mailpile represents not only a credible option for the safeguarding of our privacy, but an excellent opportunity to protest by migration to ethical software platforms more akin to P2P values. It is also worth noting that Marco Fioretti has proposed embedding Mailpile within a suite of easily accessible, decentralised online applications (email, social media, collaborative documents, data storage, etc.).

Turning money into code

Now that the crowdfunding goal has been met, the team explains their needs and how they will use any extra funding obtained until the end of the campaign.

Needs:

“Over the next few months, we need to sort out a lot of things to do with the infrastructure of the project:

We need a community forum to continue interacting with our backers

We need automated tests for our code-base

We need to define APIs for plug-ins and interacting with external apps

We need to further develop our theme architecture

We need to solidify the overall design of the system, so it is clear where and how people can pitch in

These are all prerequisites for being able to accept outside help - or to be able to turn money into manpower into useful code. So these are our top priorities for the Alpha release in January.”

Allocation of extra funds:

“Having extra money gives us a few options:

Raise our salaries

Work longer, extend the lifetime of the project beyond 1 year

Hire additional people

Hire contractors for specific tasks

Set money aside for a "rainy day" or unexpected events

Attend conferences, hackathons and meetups in other countries

Which of these makes sense, depends a lot on how the project develops and how much money we end up with at the end of the campaign. At the moment we are leaning towards the last three - contractors, a "rainy day" fund, and growing our community in person”

Eben Moglen of Freedom box is one of the funders for the project.
“Alternate have published our first e-zine, Radical Realities, with contributions from John Hilary, Dr. Nafeez Mosaddeq Ahmed, Heather Marsh and Michel Bauwens.

The Alternate Collective was formed out of Occupy Birmingham, UK. The collective comprises of radical practitioners that promote and publish about democratic and cooperative governance. We aim to propose practical solutions, to envisage what a ‘new settlement’ could comprise of for European citizens. This is a practice developed out of the occupation, where we sought to canvas and write our own responses to the budgets proposed by the UK government.

We felt that merely seeking to protest against Austerity and the financial domination of the economy by corporate interests was insufficient. On seeing the G8 was to meet in Northern Ireland, during June 2013 we spent several months of prior research, to identify the agenda and to call upon practitioners, theorists and academics who could not only present a critique about the G8 but inform a conference on alternative approaches. To point out the many paths which exist to enable a sustainable society, in the common interest, that mainstream media outlets, by and large, ignore.

This first edition of radical Realities will shortly be followed by a second edition, featuring transcripts of speeches from Dave Boyle, Prem Sikka and Nick Dearden, who also spoke at the Alternate G8 conference.

We anticipate further editions of Radical Realities, supported by a new and growing platform that engages those interested in developing practical policy alternatives to those that European governments and inter-governmental institutions have foisted upon the worlds citizens.

The typical strategy of dealing with the challenge of heterogeneity is easily one of the main assumptions that the Ostrom project challenged. The homogenization by assumption of social agents, the rhetorical trick by which homogeneity is nominally recognized as a fact and a problem but then, in the next move, reduced to a modal profile, a homogenous “representative agent,” with minimalist formal features, is both popular and influential. Versions of this strategy, operating at different levels and on different aspects of heterogeneity, are prevalent, from economics and public choice to political science and social philosophy. The logic of Ostrom’s perspective challenges that approach. Furthermore, it explicitly links the problem of heterogeneity to that of institutional diversity: Because institutional arrangements in any society emerge largely as a response to heterogeneity, and in their turn are conditions of heterogeneity, institutional diversity should be a central (if not the central) theme of institutional theory. Yet, that doesn’t seem to be the case in much of the literature. Models of “markets and hierarchies” remain pivotal, although the theoretical lenses of the theory of the market or the theory of the state are obviously incapable of capturing and illuminating the wide diversity of existing and possible institutional arrangements. A replacement of the classical dichotomous typology (markets and states) with a new trinity (markets, states, and networks) is not an adequate solution. By refusing to accept such solutions, the Ostromian approach looks commonsensical. Yet, when compared to the prevalent views, it is radical. Bloomington institutionalism is ready to take institutional diversity seriously – “beyond the Market and the State,” “beyond Hobbes and Smith” – and to follow to the end its analytical and normative logic.

As the global ecosystem of fab labs, hackerspaces, public laboratories and other community driven workshops grows, so does the need for effective exchange of knowledge between these peer knowledge hubs.

Can we cook up a grassroots implementation of peer reviewed knowledge? Or should we? Are existing platforms (journals, conferences) open to p2p communities? What great libre (online) tools are out there? Can we help the developers of potentially great tools in making the next step to greatness?
In other words: How can grassroots communities exchange knowledge? Last summer, Fabfuse was the first Grassroots Fab Lab Conference. Over 50 people from around the globe shared ideas on how to create selfsustaining public workshops for digital fabrication. This summer a follow up will take place 19, 20 and 21 July.
The conference will be loosely organized in 3 topic streams:

Open toolchains for creation, collaboration & communication: which open tools serve the grassroots community, which tools can we help become better, which tools do we miss altogether?

knowledge sharing: how can we free the knowledge present in many p2p hubs?

community building: how do distributed communities develop, live and thrive?

"We are reaching out to you today because we just launched a crowd-funded project and need your help spreading the word, through your email list and social networks.

We are proposing a new model for "slum rehabilitation" in Mumbai. The idea is to build on, and enhance existing construction practices in slum-notified areas. In contrast with wholesale redevelopment projects, which dominate the field, we believe that the "solution" is much closer to the "problem" than policy-makers and urban planners seem to imagine.

We want to demonstrate that it is possible to collaborate with local masons, craftsmen and residents, and add value to their work, by opening venues with collaboration with architects, engineers and material producers. Our starting point is a pilot project in a slum-notified area in Mumbai.

We will build a fantastic small house and sell it at the price of any other houses in the neighbourhood. And then we will get the ball rolling, repeating the scheme in the initial area and others. The long-term goal is to create housing cooperatives that bring together the people who have benefited from the scheme. These will become agents in the development and improvement of neighbourhood-wide infrastructure and amenities.

We have written about the project on urbz.net, created a support page on facebookand opened a crowd-funding page on indiegogo.
I think hat our purpose in this reality is to experience certain things, to learn from it and to get beyond it.

I also think that "easy" ways to maximise the potential of this learning process, hence transcendence of self, is to :

- Expand the fields of experience, may it be material or form-based. To explore the different facets of life. Traveling, practicing many sports... And/or being constantly curious about new knowledge, without necessarily having an intimate and specialist-like approach to each of these facets.

- Cultivate an innocent child mind, contrary to rational and skeptical thinking. Having the intimate knowing and understanding that LIFE IS MAGICAL, and keeping in mind the rational and skeptical thinking as a useful tool, among many others, to understand the reality.

- Expand consciousness : the prism of consciousness is the quantitative and qualitative definition of one's possible awakening/change of awareness/transcendence of self. Simply said, the things you are conscious about (as knowing and caring about) will partly determine what will be learnt/experienced.

The prism of consciousness has been collectively narrowed down by beliefs and lack of knowledge / awareness to countries, tribes, families and even just the self. One interesting phenomenon we are living now is that globalisation and ecological issues have widely expanded the prism of consciousness all over the globe... It may lead to the transcendence of a global collective self...

Re-Discover the Quantum Brain

Quick introductory video : Consciousness drives the universe

Documentary that expands a lot on this topic : What the blip do we know ?

Another one : Quantum Communication

One of the most disturbing discoveries of this century in the field of science is about quantum mechanics. When Einstein discovered that the observer had an influence on experiments results, he first didn’t believed it, but a few years later, he was forced to admit this fact. Nowadays, this fact is one of the numerous taboos in academic science and has been mostly evaded by trying to remove the spectator from any experiment.

This article in Science Daily shows one of the experiments made to prove this.

It is mostly admitted that the human brain is similar to a computer far more powerful than anything we can hope to invent in a near future.

Is it going too far to imagine that it is a quantum computer that may have the ability to alter time and space, to create realities ?

Based on this assumption, we can easily understand that some elements block our super-computer from its full power. We can also visualise them as virus in the computer term. Viruses that alter the proper functioning of a computer.

One of the properties of a virus is its ability to replicate and spread from a computer to another.

Now, let’s imagine that belief patterns are cognitive viruses. They have all the properties of a virus, as they are usually socially shared and even constitute the social tissue of societies and communities. For example, money is a virtual value, that is commonly admitted to have a real value, hence allowing more complex exchanges than with barter or other methods.

Beliefs define reality as they explain the world, and create artificial boundaries in the range of possibilities.

Naked Mind and space travel

Space travel is at a really beginning stage and one of the major issues concerns the psychological behaviour of these early explorators.

A book has been recently published about this topic, but as this review points out, some critical aspects are not discussed, or maybe hidden because of secrecy.

Another relevant book discussing this topic is the Mars Trilogy written by Kim Stanley Robinson.

The Mars-500 mission used sociomapping to monitor social behaviour.

Semantic tools could allow the automatic generation and updates of such sociomap, and also automatically detect possible emerging conflicts.

The advantages of using such a tool are numerous.

The role of the psychologist in such a team is really difficult, as it is pointed in Mars Trilogy. This character having no one to express its profound feelings, he may feel lonely as its role can be pictured as the loving father and mother of the crew, hence the feeling of being excluded.

So this role could be diluted among every person of the crew by defining a Naked Mind protocol using semantic tools and virtual means of communication.

The choice of a crew might as well be crucial. The Generation Z or those having an intimate connection with new technologies and virtual worlds are more likely to live far from a "natural environment". Being able to spend months or years without any real social behaviour or "normal activities" other than virtual activities through internet like coding, communicating, playing... can be a huge advantage, and i sense this kind of people are more likely to adapt to a Naked Mind protocol.

It seems obvious that human species isn't adapted for space travel, long missions or definitive settling on other planets, hence the need to "engineer" an evolution of human species by altering psychological trends. I don't think there's a need to go too far, video games players, and many people living more in the virtual than the natural realm have many traits that could be crucial for such explorations.

Schizotherapy: multiply yourself to unify with the dynamics of life (and hopefully feel better in the process)

I believe personalities are made of multiple agents that are working like an Inner Council. This process is more or less conscious, and can be extreme in schizophrenia cases. Being conscious of this process, and even training it, may allow us to make better decisions, for example.

Identifying an agent may allow to understand its function towards ourselves and others.

Creating a new agent is like creating another self that will have certain types of relationships with other inner agents that will evolve through time.

"What magical trick makes us intelligent? The trick is that there is no trick. The power of intelligence stems from our vast diversity, not from any single, perfect principle." – Marvin Minsky, The Society of Mind

The awareness of the influence and relationships of the inner agents between themselves may allow detection of biases. For example, Subject X having two inner agents:

the first one is identified as Bob : he's nice, overall a good guy, virtuous, respectful, etc ;

the second one is identified as Marvin : he's lazy, doesn't feel concerned about others, and is looking for security.

As Subject X is getting more conscious of the two agents, he succeeds in identifying the personal needs, fears, values, etc in which each agent is something like a symbolic representation. By bringing awareness to the inner conflicts between these agents, one self may be able to see if its inner council is just one voice, and has little potential to evaluate a situation with enough variety of perspectives to analyse it efficiently. Or an Inner Council may have a manichean structure. Or there may be pseudo-agents, which are clones of other inner agents with just a different language or appearance.

There may be power and mind games within our own minds. This game can be totally unconscious, hence probably a lot of so-called psychological troubles...

We can do more than play this game, we can create the rules, the players and the winning conditions. Program our own Biocomputers ?

I also think that there is a dialectical process in this environment of Inner Agents. Some agents may oppose during a certain time to finally find enough connections to even work together, becoming a kind of super-agent.

As we are looking for unity, meaning we don't like having endless fights between inner agents, we naturally merge and connect these agents, trying to make sense of this swarm.

I think we can consciously create a new Inner Agent to open new perspectives and ways to think or perceive reality. There are multiples reasons to do such thing: learning a new field of study, enhance critical thinking, and even basic well-being. For example, creating an Inner Agent dedicated to contemplation, observation, peace, patience may allow some individuals to live more happily.

This process probably happens each time we meet someone different.

I imagine easily such process in Netention. Creating different personas that represent each of these Inner Agents, slowly describing them more accurately, bringing more awareness.

We could even share our personas, so that we can almost download someone else's agents, compare them with our owns, and decide to integrate it. A bit like a personality program. Or semantic schizo-agent ?

Note : In the case of shizophrenia, the Inner Council may not even exist, and Inner Agents take control without interfering with others. In case of multiple personalities that don't communicate and are in conflict for the control, they are also disjoint as they are mutually exclusive.

To improve the state of politics and economics we collectively explore the mutual agreements that determine human relationships, habits, and behaviors. When individuals recognize identifiable biases and misconceptions, new possibilities and realities become clear.

The Naked Mind Protocol provides an inclusive and beneficial effort to collectively explore what truly composes each one of us.

One metaphor for understanding this is as a serious social game involving semantic tools that facilitate collaboration. This kind of communication protocol solves issues of all kinds and facilitates community life at multiple fractal levels: individual, family, tribe, community, and even planetary.

What follows is an explanation of the protocol, descriptions of scenarios where it may be applied, and possible evolutions of the technology.

Definition of a Naked Mind

Human being

Willing to get rid of the frontiers betwixt himself and others while communicating. Communication without pre-processing of informations.

Suppression of social censorship which aims to externalise modified informations in order to protect the communicating entity from possible judgements from receivers of the information.

Communicating with absolute honesty and transparency, sharing every thought and question without altering them.

It could be seen as a rudimentary form of telepathy (as mind to mind communication) as it aims to get rid of some of the conditions of verbal communication like social decency.

Naked Mind communication can be seen as automated speaking (compared to automated writing).

Such form of communication needs equally honest and transparent listeners which are able to suppress post-processing information like judgement. (or else it can even be dangerous for the naked mind) It seems important also that a Naked Mind need to be able to switch its communication form in order to avoid a possible marginalization in mainstream society. Being conscious of other selves abilities to communicate and grasp other realities is a good way to understand one’s own limitations and find shareable fields of information.

The Naked Mind can be considered an open source human compared to closed-source humans which are the actual “norm” in society.

Basics of Naked Mind Protocol

- Use of Non-Violent communication enriched by semantic tools such as Netention.

- Synchronous communication, is used mostly to express positive feelings and informations that need immediate response. Communication can be both verbal and virtual, using text, audio or video.

- Asynchronous communication is used when temporal and/or emotional dimensions can or need to be tempered. It can go from sharing ideas and emotions to pointing an inter-personal problem. This is crucial considering inter-personal issues, as it removes some of the emotional tensions in such a situation, and add a temporal dimension which allows a better processing of the information. Communication is virtual, using text, audio or video.

- Collective issues are discussed verbally or virtually depending on the temporal urgency and the emotional charge of the issue.

- Monitoring of mental states

- Agreements unique to the group and mutually decided

- Sociomapping generated with semantic tools.

A Form of P2P Therapy

The possible benefits of such non-altered communication are a better self-understanding, the potential release of denied issues which can be deeply buried, and the seeking of unity with other selves. By removing social and verbal barriers, the naked mind will feel a better sense of unity with the help of other naked minds who will help him understand himself thanks to shared experiences and insights.

Hypnosis can allow this form of communication, but in a distorted way, as the naked mind opens his heart to an analyst, a post-processing information specialist, so there will always be an alteration of the sense of unity.

We could imagine a group of naked minds sharing with the most possible honesty and transparency their own intimacy, allowing others to comment on it, or share similar thoughts or experiences to help each naked soul better learn about itself.

It could be some sort of a new psychology practice where everyone involved is the patient and analyst at the same time, the open heart and the loving and attentive ear. Something like a P2P psycho-therapy. Interesting to note that a vast majority of psychiatrists see themselves another psychiatrist.

Semantic tools are an interesting way to allow this kind of interactions/form of communication.

Dante wrote about Netention:

"Users could also start observing their own bias, by realizing if their actions match their intentional preferences... and eventually question themselves based on observations of themselves, or others."

A semantic approach could link people struggling with similar issues and people who have solved the same issues. By being aware of potentialities, choices become easier to consider.

It could also allow a better solving of collective issues with a shared objective : unity through diversity and self-realisation through collective processes.

Maybe it could allow the emergence of a social memory complex, a collective brain with autonomous but still inter-related cells.

Using Netention as a Library of Pharmakons

Wikipedia definition of pharmakon : "A variation of this term is "pharmakon" (φάρμακον) a complex term meaning sacrament, remedy, poison, talisman, cosmetic, perfume or intoxicant. From this, the modern term "pharmacology" emerged."

Netention uses an approach similar to RDF/OWL databases, allowing semantic links between objects.

Later on this document, the term virus or program will be mostly used as the main objective of such protocol is to collectively cure oneselves. But a proper term would be pharmakon as every social or psychological construct can have a creative or destructive effect, empowerment or addiction.

Each “social and psychological object”, which can be material or immaterial, can have positive or negative effects that will vary for each individual. Needs, context, personal development... Every individual is unique and, even if it’s possible to draw patterns from shared contexts, a medicine for one may be the poison of another one.

Semantic tools may allow to build a collective library which could be constantly improved with shared experiences. Facilitating communication between people sharing the same issues or programs may be a good way to create a sane environment without judgement or such negative feelings.

Also, as the philosophy of such approach is to consider that nothing is good or wrong, and nothing is normal ; that in reality, every positive or negative effect of anything depends on inter-related and inter-dependant elements, the overall result will likely be a more respectful and open-minded insight.

This library of pharmakons may later be used as an epistemological tool as it may allow to visualise interdependancies on various levels of abstraction, with a potentially infinite number of points of vue.

Healing Infected Minds - P2P Psycho-Therapy

It is the most difficult task of a Naked Mind as many programs are incorporated as soon as a child is born. There are thousands of inter-related layers and it may take a lot of time and a suitable environment to understand, accept, and then get beyond each layer, maybe generations.

An exemple of layer of viruses relating to consumerist society is the gift. Every year, at various dates, or more often, depending on the attitudes of the parents, a child is given gifts. It gives the child a certain sense of hapiness strenghtened by the loving attitude of the giver. The frequency of such experiences conditions the sense of happiness of the child. Advertisements strenghten even more this dependency on objects and gifts to feel happiness, or a certain sense of contentment.

One of the most important steps to get to a certain form of spirituality is to be detached from materialism, so gifts have every characteristics of a virus : it alters the proper functioning of the entity, is transmitted by other entities and is not a conscious threat as long as the anti-viral system is found and activated, in this case, a willing towards spirituality.

This only illustrates one of the thousands viruses that can constitute the belief patterns of an entity and shows how the social environment in its entirety is a pathogenic agent.

These pathogenic agents can have good or bad effects. We can consider as bad gifts the repetitive satisfaction of needs, and as good gifts the unsuspected gifts meant to open up new alternatives, new knowledge, practices, arts...

Engineering and Spreading the Anti-virus Program

Engineering new Realities seems also an interesting possibility. It requires a certain number of people sharing common values and that have already removed most of their viruses and are communicating as Naked Minds.

There is not a real need of a closed environment depending on the objectives of this new shared reality. If the objective is to spread an anti-virus program, it just needs an environment protected from the most aggressive viruses, as the Naked Minds have the tools to protect, and collectively heal themselves. In such environment, an interesting complement could be soma-therapy.

An ideal environment could be this project i've designed with a few friends, Demopolis, doc in french. Or also the project Dante supports in Leipzig.

Training Part II is meant for anyone who is interested in advocating a commons approach to dealing with issues the UN focuses on. This could take two forms: either by joining one of our teams and actually attending a UN conference, or else giving input from your own home where you can remain updated by our Instant Response Network.

Part I of this Training focused on the UN. Part II will focus on diverse aspects of the commons and on how a commons approach can be applied to the resolution of global problems as they emerge from global to local levels. The workshop will provide hands-on experience of presenting your commons approach to delegates and the UN in several steps.

Speakers will be:

Akiwa Gizzel, Director of Human Affect, who will speak on Indigenous Peoples, some special ways in which they make contact with Nature and their particular vulnerabilities and concerns when lobbying at the UN

Rob Wheeler, UN Representative of the Global Eco Villlage Network (GEN) and one of the leaders of the Commons Cluster will describe his personal experience of actually living in a commons community. He will also describe how GEN builds Ecovillages worldwide. For instance, 46000 are planned for Senegal.

Alanna Hartzok, MA, Director of the Earth Rights Institute will discuss the approach of Henry George and a commons approach to financing as a tool to help bring about sustainability.

read Measures to Shift to an All-Win, Sustainable, Commons-Based Economy on page 50. This chapter also deals with measures to alleviate poverty.

Prepare a one-minute rationale for using a commons approach to a sustainable economy as if you were talking to a delegate. (You are free to adjust this to a particular country or just to delegates in general).

Make a list of measures that seem most important to you to mention to the delegate if s/he agrees to extend the conversation. In this way your prepared presentation will consist of two separate parts.

We shall both practice our presentations and learn more about the measures you choose to bring up.

3. Please also listen to and watch the slide show section of Part I if you did not attend Training I or if you have not yet attended a UN conference on sustainability. We will mainly be discussing these topics in relation to the accelerating developments in the ICTs.
CFP: The Political Economy of the Commons (Seminar at the University of Helsinki 25th May 2013)

In the past two decades the commons has become a widely debated concept within various academic disciplines, such as environmental studies, social sciences, law and political economy. The commons has also become a central part of the vocabulary of contemporary social movements.

The commons is often seen as an alternative to ”the market economy”, as well as the capitalist mode of production and its core element, the commodity form. The abundant logics of network commons, apparent for instance in open code and varieties of peer-to-peer production, would thus stand in an antagonistic relationship to commodification of knowledge by means of copyrights and patents. It has also been argued, for example, that new commons can be identified when non-commodified social relations are strengthened through arrangements such as collaborative consumption and participatory budgeting.

On the other hand, it can be argued that the future of capitalist societies will depend on the appropriation of the production of the commons. In this case the commons is not seen so much as an alternative to but more as a consolidation of capitalism. For example the post-Fordist organisation of work can embrace autonomy, democracy and commons-based production, but it is also constantly coming up with new ways to capture and commodify the value produced from the commons.

We welcome papers that aim to engage with these already existing divergent debates on the commons, as well as ones proposing new critical perspectives on the political economy of the commons. We are also interested in questions on the relationships between the commons and democracy, social movements, nation states and world politics. Possible themes could include, but are not limited to, the following theoretical questions:

- What is / how to define the common/s?

- What is the relationship between enclosure and the commons?

- How are the concepts of value and the commons related?

- What distinguishes the commons from the public and the private?

- What are the historical specificities of commons-based production and how does it differ from the capitalist mode of production?

- How are the commons produced within networks, communities, metropolises or social movements?

- What is the meaning of the commons for the future of world politics?

- What is the role of the commons in building sustainable futures?

The event will take place as a part of Professor Teivo Teivainen’s research seminar on Global Capitalism on the 25th of May 2013. The keynote speech will be given by Professor Tere Vadén from Aalto University.

Abstracts of no more than 200 words should be sent to Tero Toivanen (tero.toivanen@helsinki.fi).
This seminar will present for discussion the results of three years of surveys and research carried out in the framework of the PROPICE project (Intellectual Property, Commons and Exclusivity), sponsored by the French National Research Agency.

Info via http://www.mshparisnord.fr/ANR-PROPICE/

The research contributes to the fundamental observation that the rise and reinforcement of intellectual property rights over the last thirty years, marked by exclusivism, has generated strong tensions that often conflict with the needs of the numerous communities or innovators and creators.

Consequently, the formation of commons in the domain of scientific, technical or artistic creation can be seen as a series of attempts to build legal and organisational tools to surmount the obstacles and limits imposed by the strengthening of diverse intellectual property rights.

By combining historical and empirical studies in multiple fields (ICT, biotech, pharmaceuticals, cultural goods, etc.) with economic and legal approaches, the research carried out in PROPICE is intended to help portray the promises and difficulties inherent in the construction of commons as alternatives to the implementation of exclusive IPR

The PROPICE project, under the scientific direction of Benjamin Coriat, brings together three partners:

- The CEPN (UMR CNRS 7234) from the University of Paris 13, (Sorbonne, Paris Cité); PROPICE team directed by B. Coriat

- The CRDST (Centre de Recherche sur le Droit des Sciences et des Techniques) from the University of Paris 1; PROPICE team directed by C. Noiville

- The SESSTIM (UMR INSERM/IRD/University of Aix-Marseille); PROPICE team directed by F. Orsi
