Natanael L replied to Sepp Hasslberger's discussion Could 'Peernet' be separate from today's internet infrastructure?
"Only if you reuse sucky hardware. Take a look at I2P's architecture, if a node goes awol then that is no problem because there are usally backup routes that are kept alive, and new routes can be established quickly. The connection should be…"

"Are you involved with the development/know somebody who is? As far as I can tell from the links, there hasn't been much development recently. I'm going to write a little about what kind of mesh network I'm dreaming of later…"

Natanael L replied to Sepp Hasslberger's discussion Backing up the internet in a P2P 'cloud'
"Cool! Just one question: It seems like it's using a 2^32 addresses (= a billion, same as IPv4) - couldn't taht be bad? Shouldn't it have a larger number of possible addresses?"

Natanael L replied to Sepp Hasslberger's discussion Backing up the internet in a P2P 'cloud'
"Nice, I've got to see how well it works. Does it work (well) inside a LAN? I've got multiple computers that I often want to use to share data in between."

Natanael L commented on Michel Bauwens's blog post Volunteers Needed To Help Map the Distributed Manufacturing Ecosystem
"What will the result look like? Will you be able to upload a design, have it manufactured and sent home to you, without centralization (a little like grid computing, if that's comparable)? So that the design I pick to be manufactured can be…"

Natanael L commented on Michel Bauwens's blog post Enclosing an open documentary on free culture?
"Seems bad. What rights did you keep? Or did you sign everything over to them? Is it possible for them to finish it without you? Otherwise I think that's your biggest advantage - it would be a waste of resources if you refuse to help finishing…"

Natanael L replied to Sepp Hasslberger's discussion Backing up the internet in a P2P 'cloud'
"My dream is a mesh network of routers. More and more people have them, so why not make them communicate? The OLPC's XOs can do it, so why not a router? If enough routers have mesh capabilites, not even a serious meteor shower could wipe out…"

Natanael L replied to monette's discussion Peer to peer networking
"WiFi+P2P`That sounds like mesh networking (802.11s). I'd love a P2P client (I'm thinking about more than torrents) with native mesh network support. Anything that could make communication and sharing easier in between multiple computers…"
