- About Me:
- In his personal capacity, Joseph Potvin is the founder of the www.brettonwoodsII.org initiative. Professionally he is a senior economist with the Information Technology Division, Chief Information Officer Branch, Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, of the Canadian Government. There he manages the Intellectual Resources Canada (Ressources Intellectuelles Canada) Initiative to be launched in 2009. He is also responsible for reporting on the Government of Canada's IT expenditures, for which he initiated the free/libre ITERation Project (IT for Expenditure Reporting Automation). In 1999 at the International Development Research Centre, he was the lead architect and project manager of a free/libre distributed decision workflow system called Online Proposal Appraisal (OPA), used for example at http://opa.gdnet.org/. In 2002 he co-founded GOSLING (Getting Open Source Logic INto Governments) www.goslingcommunity.org. After completing graduate studies at Cambridge in the U.K., he worked for a decade internationally as an economist who pays attention to ecosystem science, and in that capacity served on the core drafting team for Canada's Green Plan in 1990.
