I an Editor of OntheCommons.org, a website devoted to studying the commons in all its varieties, and especially in initiating activist projects relating to the commons. I work with a loose network of commons thinkers and activists via On the Commons, a nonprofit organization that sponsors the website. Besides co-founding Public Knowledge, an advocacy organization in Washington, D.C., that defends the public stake in copyright and other IP/Internet issues, I speak frequently and write books. In January 2009, I published a new book, "Viral Spiral: How the Commoners Built a Digital Republic of Their Own" (New Press), a history of the rise of free software, the Creative Commons licenses and various online commons as well as the open educational resources movement, open science and open business models.
How did you come across this network?
A stray link from a website led me to Michel's glorious gold mine of information and commentary on peer production: a great resource.

Really great to have you here, I like OntheCommons a lot :)
Your forthcoming book sounds interesting too :)
Warm regards,
Josef.
PS - I'm particularly interested in land-based commons initiatives like Community Land Trusts, Ecovillages, Housing Co-ops etc :)
